Re: cigarette taxes tanning salon tax. has nothing to do with the president
Oh, Xenox, I've missed you during my time away. Life hasn't been the same without you to make me laugh.
The tobacco tax is indeed a federal tax, and since the tanning tax is part of Obamacare, it's another federal tax. Both were signed into law by President Obama, Read 'em and weep

To answer your assumption, I've never smoked. My dad smoked a pipe, and being around that - usually in a small living room - was enough to make me choose not to ever do it myself.
And that's the key issue. You want to use taxes to force people into the behavior you choose for them. I want people to have the freedom to choose their behavior for themselves, without being forced into behavior that someone else has deemed politically correct. It's that thing called liberty that the progressives find so repugnant.

these are local taxes -- designed to raise revenue when revenue generally has dropped due to less taxes.
Cigarette tax ia a "sin tax" anyway.
I guess you smoke?
that must be why you have a problem with it.
but it also has the purpose of discouraging people from smoking, helping their health == a very lofty goal i would say.
