Re: Eh, I thought trees falling and causing damage to roofs bcos of storms only

The United States is a more barbaric country than most of the world supposes.  Instead of having proper cities, most of our houses are thrown individually or in a clump along some path through the wilderness.  These paths are made drivable by slapping macadam over them and giving them cute names like Lois Lane or Della Street.  Most of these macadamized paths, which we call "roads", have yellow stripes painted down the middle, indicating a NASCAR training track which we call a "highway".  To give themselves a margin of safety from motorists veering down their "highway", most homeowners encourage the re-growth of trees.  This is quite effective as many drivers hit these trees every week, leaving the houses unharmed.  However, during any storm of any strength,  many trees come down, some near a house and often one or more hit the house.

So you see, the prevention mechanism is in place against cars crashing into homes but this has the side effect of trees sometimes crashing into roofs during storms.

happened in India. I also thought you had better prevention mechanisms? Of course, I've been reading about hurricanes. But that's a different matter. It's not the everyday storm.
