Wiley recovering, nice to hear. Susan story is gripping and the ending exiled from life, is classic.

I'm glad that Wiley is feeling better!
And about Susan's voyage to Oz - I'm thanking my lucky stars that I don't get sea-sick, it must have been a terrible ordeal for her. I have seen others suffer at sea, and it ain't pretty! The only consolation - it ain't fatal either, although I've heard from some people they wished at the time they had died...

We have no concept......
of the hardships people endured to make new lives for themselves.......today we whine if we don't get peanuts on the plane......I am enjoying this story!

What a rotten journey!
I believe that in times past women were not encouraged on deck of a ship because the officers believed it would distract the crew and cause fights and the crew believed it was bad luck to have a woman on board at all... consequently women were encouraged to stay out of sight.

Didn't the old tars have a bad feeling about women on board ships Kabu, what a journey I suppose they had to rely mainly on wind power. Oh , dear I can't hack it down below can you?

Glad things are going better with you. As for the story, it is terrible how fast life can turn bad sometimes.

My daddy was a sailor, and part Dane, so I've never experienced
seasickness. I'm never happier than when I'm on a boat, sailboat on the lake, big ferry boat on Puget Sound, or a glass bottom boat rocking above a coral reef off the coast of the Florida Keys. Poor Susan, with the double whammy of morning and sea sickness.

So sad it was that Susan had such an awful experieince on the ship. I've had seasickness before but was lucky that I did not have to go to such a far away destination!
Glad to read that Wiley is feeling better and that he has posted.

Delighted to hear Wiley is feeling a little better, but I really feel for Susan. Sea sickness makes you long for death. Trust me - I've been there!!
