That's terrible that the doctor changed the medicines before going on a vacation. Ug!

Sounds like negligance to me
If he presented with chest pains and B/P problems they should have done more than send him home and told to do what he wants. Did they do an EKG? They have an obligation to find the cause of the angina. Sending Light and Love. I hope Wiley is feeling better today.

Oh my gawd Kabu... I 'm so sorry to hear that, Wiley does not deserve that kind of treatment. When are those Dr.s coming back? There has to be a number you can call... an answering service to have the Dr. call you back. Oh I feel so frustrated not being able to help. I will pray for him and you sweetie... xoxoxo

Oh, wow, Kabu, so sorry to read this..
Can Wiley not be seen by another cardiologist? This reminds me of a situation I went through a few years back with a family member and please know I don't wish to add to your worry but the person I'm speaking of had a triple by-pass and continued to suffer from angina, fainting spells and general malaise months and months after the surgery. Blood pressure was kept low by medications, especially the increasing amounts of nitro, but no relief. Calls and visits, another heart cath. (which showed a fourth artery blocked, first we had heard of that; the cardiac surgeon had had very little interaction with us, yet the cardiologist didn't think it was bad enough to cause the symptoms - he was proven wrong eventually!) Medications were tweaked several times, a rather bizarre treatment called Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) was undertaken and still no improvement, actually a worsening. Finally, the original cardiologist retired and his replacement reviewed the history of my family member on his first visit and was stunned! Seems it should have been a quadruple by-pass, the blockage left untreated was severe and definitely the reason for the symptoms. He checked him into the hospital that day based on a diagnosis of unstable angina and put a drug eluding stent in place the next morning. No more angina, sweating, light headed-ness, etc. since then. And the new doc said this was malpractice, but as there didn't seem to be any further weakening of the heart muscle, a lawsuit may or may not be successful. Family member didn't pursue any legal remedy; is just so thankful to be feeling 100 percent better and able to live much more normally as a result. A lesson about the dangers and controversy of Plavix followed later, but I won't go there now..:)
You know, I worked as a nursing assistant in our area's first high tech heart unit and I remember being amazed and thrilled at the new frontiers in healing and hope..Cardiologists and the surgeons working the fancy machinery and rapidly developing procedures with such confidence and mastery were viewed as God-like..
Little did I understand then the human-based fragility of our endeavors, no matter what they are.
I'm wondering if a second opinion for our Dear Wiley may be in order? Again, just wanted to share my experience...both of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love is the best medicine, and he's got you, Kabu.
I see he's written something since you were on line -- to me that's a hopeful sign. Keeping my fingers crossed for you both to feel better by supper time.

You poor thing. It makes me so sad to think of Wiley in pain and you frantic. Hold on, sweetie. So glad you are there for him. Saying a prayer for you now.

Don't those gutless wonders, just make you MURDEROUSLY ANGRY?
The most important part of the Hippocratic oath is, "First, do no harm!" What would you call keeping silent about the possible professional incompetence of a colleague, thereby endangering a patient that came to you for help, with another health professional's genuine concern about, what could be LIFE threatening dangers, and the doctor COWARDLY refuses to make a medical decision, only because it might affect his CAREER, BESIDES HARM??
They will never have to fear the regretful consequences, only those doctors, physician's assistants, and RNs with spines, need worry about such nonsense!

Kabu
I had to do some catch-up reading to figure out what's been going on with dear Wiley. Heat is a challenge, as you well know, for people with a heart condition. And yes, maybe his plain speak with the Dr. today will get him back on his old med regime. If it wasn't broke, why fix it. I'm so sorry for your worry. Having read his posts as well it sounds like he is worrying quite a bit about the changes he is experiencing. He's so in tune with his body that any little glitch will undoubtedly make him fret. Hopefully all will sort itself out this week - a tweaking of the meds, a break in the heat, and a little less worrying.
