Thanks for all that input, cpklapper.
I favor the last line the most.

I do not call people "white" or "black" because I don't believe in race

I also do not call any immigrant "illegal" because:

1. I believe the Mayflower Compact which my ancestors John Howland and Richard Warren signed declared the legality of ones arrival irrelevant to citizenship in that and all successor body politics, up to and including the present-day United States of America;

2. The Constitution does NOT give Congress or the States power to limit immigration;

3. The Constitution DOES Congress the power to establish UNIFORM rules of naturalization, which they have contravened by passing the Chinese Exclusion Act and the rest of our unconstitutional immigration law which establishes backdoor NON-UNIFORM rules of naturalization; and

4. I am an advocate of free immigration as was Emma Lazarus, the poet who wrote the poem inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty, and thus am in favor of expunging (repealing retroactively) any law, such as all of our immigration laws, which would deny entry to the "tired", the "poor" and "the wretched refuse of [others] teeming shore".

In short, I do not believe that any immigrant should require amnesty from our unconstitutional immigration laws any more than any escaped, fugitive slave should have required amnesty from the Fugitive Slave Act.

That being said, relevant to point (3) above, the uniform rule of naturalization should include comprehension of American English sufficient to understand our laws and, especially, our Constitution.  No American citizen should require an interpreter to stand up for their own rights or to participate fully in our federal republic.

Tzippy,
Exactly. I mean, I don't want to single any particular group out, but when so many cry "treat us equal" and we're all equal, then those same people need to stop segregating themselves. Take Miss Black America for instance. WTF? The only type of segregating we should be doing in this country is eliminating the illegals and get them back into their own country.

call me paranoid, but I really believe all this PC to give an hyphenated
name to each culture was designed to bring america down. How can we become one nation under God, or one nation under anything if we are so divided, can you think of a better way to destroy a country?

Jem, yeah, my boss is the same way.
He's black and calls himself that.

Good point, Sir Strat.
And I bet they're not as patriotic back in their home land, either. How many of them fly American flags (or whatever new country) in their "native" country?

My Former Manager Is From Jamaica

Born and raised in Jamaica, and he would get LIVID whenever someone called him "African-American." He absolutely hated it! I'm so glad you brought this up!

I also once had a conversation with a black man who told me that he'd much rather be called "black" than "African-American." He said all the PC crap was just that: CRAP!

Amen, Young Miss. Amen!!!!

The thing is, too, some of those making noises about the mother country don't realize a couple of things -- one, they'd probably be just as annoying and unwelcome there because those folks back home really work for a living -- and by living, I mean survival -- and they don't have time for the bullshit either.

CORRECT, we need to develop roots wherever we are, otherwise we'll have no
bearings.
