Owning a business is tough, but in order to keep it afloat, hard decisions need to be made.

I think it must be one of the most painful times in business, to have to cut people's hours. Not an easy call, especially when you don't know how they're going to react and so much negativity can bounce back onto you.

I make the schedules for the kitchen staff at my place of employment, and I have had to make some tough decisions in this area recently, too.

When I was working, I watched many people come and go over the years.
I know that one thing they really hated was having their hours cut or moved around.

Having to deal with employees that need to have their hours cut back or fire them is difficult. I was a service manage in a printing equipment business repair outfit for about 5 years and I found firing employees had a traumatic effect on me. Eventually I went to simply work for and by myself as an entrepreneur and that made for a happier life for me...........

Cutting hours and firing are always unpleasant. That's why, for mamagement types, there are special out-placement (!) services that handle that sort of thing...

Re: FSI, Interesting. Have you seen "Scarecrows"?
No, I have not. Given the actors and how it relates to business I should put it at the top of my list.

Reduced time I suppose will mean less income for some and in others more free time depending on what an employee's priority is. Indeed do share the stories FSI.

It has to be one of the more difficult tasks when one is in business! But it is always about the bottom line and staying in business to provide as many jobs as one can! sam
