                I enjoyed her postings.
About your question concerning botnets, I eventually found out that having file sharing software on your computer - Limewire being one of the biggest culprits - is an open invitation to all kinds of viruses, trojans, computer destroyers. Many of the files are infected with such, some experts think deliberately, to combat the theft of movies, music, programs, etc. My son had downloaded Limewire without my knowledge and another file sharing program; once I deleted them and ran multiple virus scans (near continuously for several days; incredible how many infections my computer had!) then, thankfully the computer was "clean" and the botnets, if that had actually been the problem, were under control or eradicated (the techie from my internet provider service had told me I would have to strip my computer to bare bones to get rid of them.) Needless to say, I was glad I didn't have to do that! I haven't had any notices or problems since and I keep virus scans updated and operational.
Hope my experience sheds some light on your problem.
