Your data speak for themselves...sadly...

And to Chuck:

Chuck, I did not ask you any questions - I made two statements 1) That Muslims conquered Jerusalem 2) That the remaining Jews and Christians lived there as dhimmi...

To 1): Being reasonably well versed in history, I am aware of the fact that Umar did not create a bloodbath in Jerusalem (where he had no business being, of course), unlike some other parts of the world, e.g. the Indian sub-continent, where Muslims slaughtered millions during their conquest. The difference? Jews and Christians are 'people of the book', Hindus are simply 'worthless idolaters'...

To 2): You are probably familiar with the Arabic term dhimmi.
For readers not familiar with it, and without going into great detail, it describes the second-class status of non-Muslims under Muslim rule.

There is a fairly extensive literature on the subject, one of the best being Bat Ye'or, The Decline of Eastern Christianity under Islam. From Jihad to Dhimmitude:7th - 20th Century, London, 1966

Also: The Dhimmi Factor in the Exodus of Jews from Arab Countries, in Malka Hillel Shulewitz, The Forgotten Millions. The Modern Jewish Exodus from Arab Lands (London/New York: Cassell, 1999

And, Chuck, don't try and instruct me in history...LOL

Re:
Chuck - Here are the "tolerant" peaceful outcomes of extremist Islamists (those that Hamid addresses with his "Jewish Heart').  If you ever researched Jewish history, you'd know that Jews do not attack others because of their religious beliefs (they are usually too busy BEING attacked and fighting off the enemy). I happen to know that these episodes are accurate - I have Muslim friends in Pakistan who can attest to them.  Do you even have the guts to speak out against the Taliban?  Would you have the guts to "do reform" with your Muslim heart?  Hamid is brave because he was once an extremist and can tell others how he was drawn into that life.  It's only when his "conscience woke up" - when he was forced to bury an "infadel" alive -that he realized how deranged those who preached that type of Islamic practice are.  If he feels that having a "Jewish Heart" makes him more human, maybe everyone should get one of those!  You are correct, though in one respect.  There were periods of time in history when Muslims were tolerant to other religions.  But not currently - and it's getting worse.
And this list of 100 victims of Islamic Terror is only within the past WEEK!

Mal,

Sometimes the truth hurt. I go back 60 years and you think it is too much, but Nautikos is going back in the hundreds. I will answer his question first then I will go back to answer yours. When Omar Bin Al Khatab conquered Jerusalem. He didn't inflect any harm on the Christians or the Jews. This is becuase he was following the teaching of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) who taught tolerance for all religions.. (you can go back to history to verify). Also when the Muslem leader King Saladin conquerd Jerusalem. He was forgiving inspite of all the bloodshed that the crusaders cause previously. All what you have to do is watch the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" which shows the truth of what happensed. He led the Muslims against the Crusaders and eventually recaptured Palestine from the Kingdom of Jerusalem after his victory in the battle of Hattin. As such, he is a notable figure in the Islamic world and the region. His chivalrous behavior was noted by Christian chroniclers, especially in the accounts of the siege of Kerak in Moab, and despite being the nemesis of the Crusaders he won the respect of many of them, including Richard the Lionheart; rather than becoming a hated figure in Europe, he became a celebrated example of the principles of chivalery. (I'll leave you to do the research). As to Tawfic Hamid, which name was not introduced by the intervier.  In his book he mentioned the following "I am a Muslim by birth, I am a Christian by spirit, I am a Jew at heart." And normally people speak from the heart. In other words he speaks from a Jewish heart. Nothing wrong with that. But when a Muslim needs to do a reform, it should come from a Muslim heart. Watching the video, I think that Tawfic Hamid is bashing and cashing in the name of Islam. I hope this will answer all your questions. As history can tell the Muslims were very tolerant to all other religions. (Please do some research).

There's supposed to be a comma, not a period behind 1948,
and there supposed to a period after 648, and not a hyphen. One of these days I'll learn to check my comments before I press the 'send' button...

Chuck wants to go back in history - well, let's go back in history, LOL. Jerusalem was conquered by Umar in 637 AD - in 1948 AD. 1311 years later, the Jews just took back what they had been deprived off much earlier under Roman rule...70 AD, under Titus, 135 AD under Hadrian...Of course, Jews and Christians still lived there after the Muslim conquest, but as dhimmi...

Re:
Chuck- Irgun ceased operations in 1948 when Israel was voted into existence.  Not sure why you're bringing up something that happened 60 years ago when it has nothing to do with the very BRAVE Muslim guy who decries terrorism and happens to be very fond of Israel.  I'm glad you liked the video.  Perhaps you can also take his message of peace out to the world.....Mal

Mal,

Thank you for sharing this video, as it is always wonderful to change from a terrorist to a normal being. I also like to share with you another story that is more powerful about the change that can occur in people's life. Menachem Begin, became the the Prime Minister of Israel, then a Noble Prize Winner in the year 1978. Prior to that he was a terrorist that belongs to the right wing militant Zionist group Irgun. His pictures were posted as wanted terrorist by the British Police under the mandate of Palestine when he bombed the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. The attack was carried out on July 22, 1946. This was the start of terrorist in Palestine. The attack left 91 people killed and 46 were injured. The bombing has appeared in literature about terrorism in its practice and in its history. The bombing has been called one of the most lethal terrorist attacks of the 20th century. From a terrorist, to a Prime Minister, to a Noble Prize Winner. What a change in peoples life!!  Also I would like to add this attachment to show how many people were killed from this right wing zionist group who Begin was one of their leaders. I hope this information is useful.

List of Irgun attacks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

During the 1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine against the British Mandate of Palestine the militant Zionist group the Irgun carried out sixty attacks against Arabs and British soldiers.[1] Irgun was described as a terrorist organization by the New York Times[2][3], the Anglo-American Committee of Enquiry[4], prominent world figures such as Winston Churchill[5] and Jewish figures such as Hannah Arendt, Albert Einstein, and many others[6]. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes it as "an underground organization."[7]

Irgun launched a series of attacks which lasted until the beginning of World War II. All told, Irgun attacks against Arab targets resulted in at least 250 Arab deaths during this period. Following is a list of attacks resulting in death attributed to Irgun that took place during the 1930s. The Irgun conducted at least 60 operations altogether during this period.[8][9][10]

Absolutely fabulous! A brave man indeed, and one very much after my own heart -  a man who refuses to be silent! Would you know if that interview was transcribed and is available in print?

I couldn't help but think how many were like him who just wanted to serve and love God, and they were taken advantage of so terribly. I loved his bravery, I feel the same way, only the flesh is taken away. The voice will will linger like an echo! sammy
