Elinjo
I haven't heard much news out of the conference - but then I haven't paid much attention to the news at all - too busy...
But I do wish you a Happy Hanukkah!

I would imagine they're on tenterhooks - however, awareness is necessary when such mass visits - and I am thankful for your links but especially the dreidel song. I have a poem I wrote on the Dreidel - I will find and meanwhile, enjoy this fun ditty - I am so enjoying your blogs bringing such light and culture to us all - Have a wonderful day Elinjo

Re: Very best to you!
There are demonstrations and demonstrations. Mostly they are peaceful enough here, but sometimes they get out of hand. That must have been a very interesting experience for you in 2003. Thanks for visiting and telling me about it.

I was just listening to Obama's speech there, and thinking of you--must be quite an atmosphere there. Enjoy the lunch!

Very best to you!
We have a few people in my neighborhood who are "free range recyclers", all either on bikes or one lady on foot who goes out on garbage day and pick through everyone's recycle cans.
I was involved in preparing and responding to an international agriculture ministers' conference in 2003 and got to talk to and observe demonstrators up close. Thanks to intel and good discipline, no one was tasered or gassed or hurt, although they did at one point threaten a Starbuck's after realizing their parade had been routed away from the Capital, and had to be driven off by threats (sparking tasers, the blue arc and zapping noise are vey effective psychologically). For most of the protestors it was a big social event and many were still in town sightseeing the day after the conference ended, some driving SUV's and getting their coffee at Starbucks. Hopefully your folks will be as demonstrative and harmless as ours eventually turned out to be.
