Re: Re: myrrhage
Keep the faith.  Though I never got a pony, I did get three puppies, and one grown dog, over the years.  I have fond memories of all of them, plus several adopted strays that included a couple of cats.  My love of animals has been passed on to my son who has raised many puppies and now owns two dogs, one a stray that is great with the grandkids.  Scaling down the size of the desired pet often succeeds.  I wish you the fulfillment of all your dreams, including the farm animal pets.

Belated thanks for the comment.  I've been pretty much out of touch other than a few quick posts most of the last two months.  I guess it's a double OUCH now since, including today there are now only three shopping days left.  By the way, whaddya think about our new look Tigers?  I find it hard to believe they cut Polanco loose for nothing, or that they traded Granderson and Jackson for less than a handful of mostly unproven talent.  And those are just the highest profile changes.

Re: myrrhage
notapoet, wiser words are seldom spoken.  I find that paring down the list is rather Feng Shui, or at least borrows one a sense of relief for a time.  Not needing a thing almost guarantees that you'll never want it.

I did try to compromise by asking for a llama instead.  Those things are so darn ugly they're cute.  When that failed, I asked for a pair of goats.  (They were listed for free on Craigslist.)  Still, my dream of keeping farm animals as pets remains unfulfilled.

I share the sentiment.  My method of coping for never getting a pony has been a continuous paring of the public wish list down to practically nothing.  The result, of course, is that received gifts, practically none, now come close to matching the list.  However, I admire you for sticking with the wish for a pony.  My own private wish list is still pretty ambitious and extensive.  I've come to the conclusion that the wanting is at least half the fun.  Of all the people I've known who actually got a pony, only one (other than a dedicated competition horsewoman) expressed satisfaction with the reality of getting a pony or horse.  But it pays to keep dreaming, even if the dream changes over time.  It helps to keep you alive and anticipating each new day.  And some wishes have come true over the years.  Maybe you'll get that pony yet.

Whoa, small world.  I ask for a pony every Christmas and on my birthday, but to no avail.  What's the point of making a list if people don't get you what's on it?  Jeez.
