Yes, adding fuel to the fire is such a common thing. I feel sometimes it
comes from insecurity.

Having grown up in the Cascade Range foothills and surrounded by
forests, mostly tall Douglas firs and other evergreens, the possibility of being surrounded by fire was always in our awareness. Fortunately that area generally gets 70+ inches of rainfall every year, and most campers, hunters and fishermen are well aware and are very careful with fire. Loggers and etc., often chewed tobacco instead of smoking cigarettes. I hate wildfires, but understand how some people are awed by them.
