I also wish that we would hear from moderate muslims on this subject.

Betty, In my humble opinion, living among the muslims here in this country, I only wish to add that I think they are very unified in their silence for their brotherhood. They are mostly peaceful and God-fearing people and they don't agree with violence too but for the few fanatics bringing down their faith and peacefulness, they share a solidarity and that is why they don't speak up. But there are some here who are very vocal and stand up for the essence of what their Koran preach (notwithstanding the bloodshed of the past for the sake of sovreignity) and that is peace. So in the name of a few who kill innocent lives fir the wrong reasons I feel the majority is being punished. Just my thoughts Betty. Thank you for this post and for the lovely comment in my blog and have a lovely day.

its so sad there are so many distressed people that they lose all their abilities to think right, so sad, but death is a part of life.

Dear Elinjo, I did not see this blog --- where was I?

~ however, I appreciate the common prayer of it as such. I simply believe that we as humanity should know no color - nor creed --- and I, yet, as an artist know the variations of shade - hues and perspectives, yes value. I value humanity --- I value people/citizens/folks - creations of God --- however, I disvalue simply the murderers --- the violent ones (backup) <--- rather I simply deny the 'act' or the act that disrespects - kills - slays the beauty - the Greatness of my Creator --- and is where my respect shades to dwindle - for in my childlike heart --- my faith is still left intact - from when I was baptized into the life of Christ - accepting my lineage - and I just can't imagine a devout Christian, Muslim, advocater of Christ - God taking life --- is all. So, with that all in mind, I am truly trying to understand, and leave the 'forgiving' to God - while He helps me not 'fear' or see 'differentiation' --- not to judge! all the while, my heart bleeds for the parents, the families that have suffered such horrific loss so my emotions or passions may paint a more wounded hue~ Elyse

(leaving this blog with much to ponder)

I thought about my comment and then remembered that this not the first incident when a soldier has turned on his own! Pat Tillman was a professional football player who quit playing after the 911 attack and enlisted! He was a victim of friendly fire as it initially stated. But further investigation revealed that shots came at him even after repeatedly identifying himself! I say that was murder based upon jealousy! Tillman was revered and received recognition for his personal sacrifice! Then a second incident involving a grenade, again no mention of religious based, just a soldier losing it! A man from Boise with young children lost his life! Soldiers will lose when confronted with war or the thought of going to war! I stand firm on those who commit these crimes be held accountable, leave religion out of it, and prosecute accordingly! I think the penalties need to be severe and commensurate with the infraction! I also think it is good to have dialogue regarding the influence of the religion in these conflicts for I will always believe that silence in its own way is solidarity! Peace and blessings! Shelly
