At first, I was going to make some sarcastic remark. Something like, "I'd give some credence to your assertion, if you were an expert in languages, multi-lingual and well traveled, like I are!" Then I got to the part where you said that, YOU played hockey, yourself! You probably meant that wussy-girl type, "field hockey" game, not the gory, bone-breaking variety, that those half-crazed cabin-fevered, chronically cranky Canadians created.
Still, I wouldn't want to raise a hockey player's ire, (!) so I'll just skip the ironic sarcasm. My doctor recommended that I do my very best, to keep as much of my blood inside of me, instead of letting any of it leak out onto the ground, ice, or into gauze bandages, if at all possible.
I'm not scared of no girl, you understand, but just this once, I think that I ought to follow my doctor's orders!

Thanks for an entertaining post. Although I'm not Canadian I got the joke.
Centre is NOT a spelling mistake, at least according to my British-English spelling WORD guru. If I write center it underlines it in red.
I used to play hockey at school; lovely game for working off aggressions.
