No wonder you feel worried and depressed. I hope he'll be back home soon, safe and sound!

And American are still deficient in language! It would have been so wonderful if that would have become a reality! Shelly So sorry I am behind, I get so depressed when my young son heads off on these covert missions!

Re: WileyJohn
Thank you for taking the trouble of finding this supplementary information, WileyJohn. ' With regard to the last part of the quote i.e.
"A considerable amount of literature has been written in Esperanto, mostly translated fiction."

I'd like to tell you about 'Concise Encyclopedia of the original literature of Esperanto 1887 - 2007' Geoffrey Sutton, published by Mondial, New York' http://www.mondialbooks.com/enciklopedio/index.html

Elinjo - Quite Interesting and you have introduced me to the value of this language too. I read the conclusion..quite fiery and well structured I think. I hope you are feeling better and take care of that cold. A hot streaming bowl of chicken soup does it for me..

Elinjo

A good post and I have looked up the following in Encarta out of interest in what you write about, and maybe it will be useful to your other interested readers

"Esperanto, artificial language created by Polish oculist (eye doctor) Ludwik Lejzer Zamenhof. The language was named after Zamenhof’s pseudonym, Esperanto, meaning "one who hopes," and it was originally published in 1887. Many people became aware of Esperanto toward the beginning of the 20th century, and it has become a synonym for “artificial international language” (see International Language). A considerable amount of literature has been written in Esperanto, mostly translated fiction."

Re: advice and sympathy.
Thanks for all your good advice and sympathy.Somebody I know suggested I should drink hot beer and honey. The turmeric and hot milk is a new one. To be perfectly honest the remedy that I'd be most likely to choose, would be chicken soup, just like my mother used to make.

Thanks for the link Betty; must look at it. Sorry to hear you've been so unwell...and yet you manage to write regularly and leave detailed comments; thanks very much indeed. As Vogue says, honey and milk is good; another traditional remedy is turmeric powder boiled in milk! Fireworks continue, so I am under self-imposed house arrest!! Get well soon.
