Oh how I hated doing evaluations and then presenting them to the employees who never took well any mark less than the highest, or the least criticism even though it was constructive criticism.

don't agonise over evaluations. They are an important and essentail part of feedback for all of us to improve oursleves. And, when people don't do well in one organisaiton, they can move on to other things. Even if it doesn't feel good at that moment, it will be better in the long run. It all depends how you look at it. For years (as an empoyee and a boss) I have done this. Like you, I used to agonise over it, till I got to a good place. I hope it happens to you fast. Courage!
