Thank you, shobana
I've always believed Christianity was a liberal religious movement.  Evidently I erroneously thought it was self evident.

Ah, Corbin
In all fairness I think I have to interject that conservatives have worked awful hard at spending my money over the years and, unlike current liberal spending proposals, provided hardly any benefit to anyone except big business and the very wealthy.  Since this is a blog in R&S it seems appropriate to point out that conservative generosity has been somewhat at odds with what Jesus preached.

Thanks, xeno-x
I know you were responding to Corbin_Dallas, but your comments also supported my own conclusions.

pretty much......but that's my opinion.  They do work hard at giving away my hard-earned money.

Re: Actually..... Posted by Corbin_Dallas
It would appear that you are saying, Corbin, that a good work ethic is not part of liberalism.

Thank you, sam
You have succinctly restated what I've been consistently saying all along.

I have not found anything about Christian right either! For me a Christian is a follower of Christ and would therefore adhere to HIS teaching and nothing else! sam

Actually, Jesus commented on the many labels that were applied to him and claimed a couple of awesome labels for himself. And he did endorse a strong work ethic which should not be taken out of context. You quoted a single verse out of the Parable of the Talents which is better understood by reading the whole parable (Matthew 25:14-30) as well as the parables that preceded it, and the rest of Matthew 25. My interpretation of the parable is that those who do good with what they are given are being praised while those who do nothing are being chastised. One can argue interpretations of individual parables and isolated verses out of context. However, I think Matthew 25:31-46 is stated so clearly that no interpretation or analysis is necessary. Don't take my word for it. Go and read the verses in whatever translation of the Bible you own or can lay your hands on and then tell me how you can claim to be a Christian without doing whatever is in your power to feed and clothe the poor, care for the sick, and deal humanely with strangers and the imprisoned.

Amen.  I can hardly disagree with your comment.  My own son is a registered Republican while I am a registered Democrat.  But we are not a house divided.  We agree so closely on most political talking points that you could say we are clasping hands on the fence even though we are standing on different sides of it.  The labels mean little when you have a unity of purpose.

In the way that he did social reform miraculously. For myself a Christian can take a little from both political philosophies as they are labeled today. BC-A, Bill’s RJJst

Actually.....
He would probably have laughed at being labeled....period.   He did seem to believe in a strong work ethic......

Matthew 25:29
(Jesus Speaking) "To those who use well what they are given,
even more will be given, and they will have an abundance.
|But from those who do nothing,
even what little they have will be taken away."
