Re: Elinjo for Wiley John especially.
Sadly even if she stayed put would probably not escape assault, theft or vandalism. See what she's had to put up with so far  !

Elinjo
I loved the statue but I wish she was staying there because I'd hate to think of it being damaged or stolen. A great post luv

I remember the thrill of seeing her there on her rock in 1966. Quite a life
time ago yet sometimes it seems just yesterday.

It's wonderful to share views of a part of another lands  cultural history. Exchanging and sharing ideas is a great step towards peace in this world. Elinjo thanks for the visit, I'm not brave, scared silly and having fun.

In 1971
my sister took a school cruise up the Baltic and berthed in Copenhagen. She told us of the Little Mermaid and, years later, I was lucky enough to visit the city and saw her for myself. My sister had told us how she was tucked away, but I felt that was somehow nicer than being there in the forefront.

Re:
Yes, I know Nita and hope that you will find compensations. Perhaps these would be a theme for my post tomorrow morning. If it's any comfort, the statue is really tiny as Mal told us in her comment. Hope you come to Copenhagen and not Shanghai next summer!

Betty, this is wonderful....I love Andersen! but I'm so disappointed to hear that the Little mermaid is going off for a while; as you know, we're planning a trip to Denmark next year, and this was one of the things I was looking forward to seeing!
