This is stupid... construction guy has just called to confirm the arrangements.. he is picking me up at six. Suddenly, I'm a nervous wreck. The girls in my office are laughing at me, in a kind way, and I'm tempted to ask for a chaperone at the next table. Time to go.

Funnily enough I never need anyone to go with me either, and perhaps I was just being a baby..
it's just a bit scary locking yourself out and not knowing what to do..

It's funny you know i no longer expect or seek company for medical appointments. I think i had so many over the years that i got to the point of telling anyone who offered, thanks but you've got better things to do. And I'd just take a good book or enjoy the company of strangers. I also liked to listen to the conversations in waiting rooms and wards and have drawn writing from them.
