I am really not up to date and hadn't heard about the Air France 447 crash. Thank you for keeping me informed. I looked it up on the news and it is very sad. I do hope they find out what happened.

As my mom would say: it's worst for those who stay (at least we hope so, unless there is some of then in hell).
Sorry, I should take a minute of silence too. It is a big tragedy. But in the skim of things, planes are safer than any other mode of transportation (even trains) and there are a lot more people being killed as we speak (or write) right now in car crashed than these 2 hundred and something.
And as I am flying with Quantas to Australia and that Quantas never did crash, ever! I'll try to keep all that in mind on my way to this 29 hours long trip...

I feel it just as much for the people who saw them off or were expectant about seeing them again.

Amen to that my friend

I panick when there is just a small amount of turbulence that no one else even flinch, and you can walk out in front of a truck if its your turn

Nicely written, Vogue
I felt the same - a terrible loss, considering Air France's good safety record until now. How terrible for the families and for the victims too.

Makes one sad. Around the time of this accident, there was another news of a major disaster averted in Mumbai airport when a Jet Airways plane came within sniffing distance of another aircrat on the runway. Life goes on!

I was viscerally ill when I heard about the Air France flight having just gone through bad turbulence coming back from Hong Kong. I can only imagine those terrifying last moments and I pray for the loved ones left behind. Mal
