I can only hope that this event isn't too hard on you.
I lost both my adoptive parents in the 1970's.
Then met my biological mother and she died about ten years back.
There is a loss, but we live for the future.
Life is full of both joy and sorrow. We must accept that.

I am so sorry for your loss Guy... and I know those words seem empty and cliche but I AM sorry. Sorry you have to go through that pain. I lost my Mom recently and I am in a way still grieving. I don't think I will ever get used to the idea of her not being there when I need her or of me having to run around in the many silly errands she used to send me too and because of which I neglected my garden, my writing and even my self many a time :-) My family is totally different from yours. We fight all the time about stupid things... and talk to each other most every day, but that did not change the sense of loss I experienced when she was gone. I don't think that the kind of relationship one has with one's family changes the pain one feels when they are gone and no matter how old we are we always feel like an ofphan when they pass on. In liu of consolation all I can tell you is that eventually the pain dulls and though it never goes away it is not as sharp, it gets more like an ache that one feels whenever one thinks of them Eventually you will enjoy thinking of him and of the things he did and said... or so they tell me but I know this: you will understand the meaning of the words "always in my heart". (((((((Guy))))))
