- Go to The world is my oyster: Sarah's first day at school.
Not surprising, but sometimes the parent needs to be comforted more then the child. The first day of school for a child is most definitely a precious day.

It's so different now when children start school. But they start at Nursery school at three - so young! They're not much more than babies.

Oh that first day of school well sometimes it is the growing knowledge
that you have to go everyday from now on for years and years that is the most difficult part. I know it was for at least two of my grandsons.

This brought back memories! Such a tough separation! I forgot to post this information with my poem this morning! And I was so pleased you saw the ghost ship effect! Thank you!
Edmund Fitzgerald: gigantic ore carrier, went down, mysterious circumstances
in 1975. [My son, Christopher, who is in the Army, was a Naval Sea Cadet in
his teens. He participated in an exercise to place buoys over the site of the
Edmund Fitzgerald making it a grave sight. They made one final pass over the
area, paying final respects and now no ship may cross over the Edmund Fitzgerald.
He was on a Frigate, this one was the last to sail the Great Lakes because it had
been sold to France]. (They grow too fast after that first day, my son was 16 here.)
Western Reserve: went down in April 1892; famous financier Peter Minch was
aboard with his family the day the ship went down. Only the wheelman survived.
WH. Gicher: went down in 1892; a coal steamer.
Erie Board of Trade: went down in 1893.
Saginaw Bay is located in Northeastern Michigan U.S.A. between Au Sable Point
and Port Aux Barques on Lake Huron.

As Snowview said your story flows so smoothly and describes so perfectly that first day of school and a mother’s angst.

I'm remembering each of my three children and the first day of school. It was wrenching. I cried more than they did. Really enjoying your story!
