Yes, I couldn't agree with you more. However although this is only a story I know people who went into denial in similar ways; like the rat in your cartoon they did not suspect the big fat cat waiting outside their hole.

I can see Jacob's desire to protect Sarah from a hurtful legacy...
...but, exposing her to her rich Yiddish legacy would only add texture to her sense of identity, and wouldn't be as harmful as Jacob presupposes.

No matter what they do or how they bring her up, somehow Sarah will know

Amazing how a torn past can interrupt and direct future choices! It is a difficult situation indeed with good arguments on both sides! I think it is wonderful they are putting the child first! Shelly
