I never did get to that area when I visited Manchester and London, but I always took my 'leave' at Christmas time. Love the way the story is coming along luv, good for you...

I used to eat Brighton Rock when in England as a girl.
Now what are we going to do about this Christening. Perhaps we could invent an Aunt in Kent who "arranges such things" in the family and keep up the pretence. Maybe the people would prefer the truth and Jacob should call a meeting and explain. hmnnnnn

I understand where the community is coming from because in my faith it is everyone's responsibility to raise the children! However, it is not of the invasive meddling that the couple is facing! They both are perplexed at each other's expectations! I am glad Jacob is a strong man in this instance! Shelly

I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to be in a different culture with its expectations. On the bright side they are fitting in.

I continue to enjoy the story, especially as I recognise the times and places you describe so well.

Elinjo,

These sound like some pretty interesting characters you've got going here.  A very enjoyable read!

I responded to your comments, and hope you don't mind that put your name in the post.  http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/myrrhage/

The summer months sound so wonderful! I love the reference to moths...aren't human beings often caught up in a similar sitiuation! Your story and style are simple, yet so effective--am really enjoying the story, and your insights. Sorry I missed out yesterday; caught up with it today. All the best! Nita.

Life's simply pleasures
The description of the township in summer brought back memories of my own childhood. Excellent prose and a sheer joy to read. Keep the fantastic work.
