These kinds of memories will always be there, no matter what they do. Is there an easy way for them to forget? Very good..and a very gripping story.

This is wonderful. I love it and so well written. You may be interested
that in Australia after WW11 it became fashionable to circumcise all baby boys just after they were born.Nothing to do with religion so there was no ceremony attached but it had become the fashion.

Lovely treatment of a difficult subject. And Yes. Re your comment about how

hard it is for people of European, Jewish ancestry to trace their roots. It has to be very frustrating for you. Upsetting too, I imagine.

Ta for the comment + all the best.

Very fascinating material for me.
It is in line with a book, a great book I am currently about 1/2 way through.  It's called Tales of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz....Recommend!

I feel that I should like to clarify my own position:

Drohan  and Salem thank you for your comments.

What I’m writing at present comes under the heading of fiction. Jacob and Rachel are figments of my imagination. It is my aim to write a credible story about two people whose lives were redefined because of the holocaust.

I do not condone war or violence under any circumstances whatsoever. Violence begets violence and solves nothing at all; it merely creates other problems. In my opinion there is only one race and that is the human race and as such each and all victims deserve equal sympathy.

Holocaust was close when we read Anne Frank; so too in Gaza, a physicist's

baby boy was killed and his uncles could not take him quickly to Egypt. The father is here teaching in Virginia... it made me weep when last week the family came out of Gaza & joined him. The reporter asked: are u happy now...he said in broken voices Yes, Thank you...but I also left four children at my home, and now I can only hug three of them. Shalom&Salaam

Re:
Thanks for your kind comment and the information about Faye Kellerman. I've never read anything of her's, but I shall see if I can order one of her books from the library. All the best!

I'm really enjoying this story. I read Faye Kellerman's novels which are full of Jewish imagery and customs. They're great and give me glimpses into a different world - like your story.

This poor couple, one obstacle after another! I can see the dilemma though! I doubt either sex is going to be easy to raise under their circumstances! Shelly
