Re: A griot in our midst-from UK to Denmark people shout, Viva Griot Elinjo!
Blogit is definitely broadening my outlook and enriching my vocabulary . ‘A griot in our midst-from UK to Denmark.’ I didn’t know exactly what it meant, but found the following definition in Wikipedia:
A griot (pronounced /gɹi.əʊ/ in English or [ɡʁi.o] in French, with a silent t) or jeli (djeli or djéli in French spelling) is a West African poet, praise singer, and wandering musician, considered a repository of oral tradition. As such, they are sometimes also called bards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griot
Wow, Salem, that is what I call a compliment; thank you very much!
