This one line just shouts at me.
You wrote: "I could see his bleeding was more worrisome to him than my bleeding had ever been." That speaks--no, it SHOUTS--volumes about abuse, and in few words, so that it's not overdone, overemotional, overcooked somehow. It's powerful. It's awesome.
I'd like to hear more about what drove Jess to that meeting with God--a transition, if you will, between what we last read and this scene.
