- Go to WHY SOME BIGOTS WANT OTHERS TO BELIEVE ONLY IN ONE... RELIGION ?
Re: Believing in every religion
That was not how I interpreted what Afzal said. Instead, it is the insistence that all people believe what you believe in, indeed are what you are, and treating badly those who do not, that constitutes bigotry. Though Afzal only mentions religion and culture, the same applies to political parties, ethnic groups, races and moral codes. For all the varieties of bigotry, the dynamic is one of gaining power by exclusion and persecution, not of asserting one's own faith, culture or political beliefs.

Does what you wrote mean that you believe in every religion?
Someone said (sorry I can't remember who) that to believe in all is to believe in nothing.
At the same time, if there is even only one religion that a person cannot accept, does that not make that person a bigot? Are we not all bigots at one time or another, in one sense or another? Are we not bigots when we look down on other bigots? It always seemed ludicrous to me to call people bigots.
