The Islamists use torture as a weapon of terror, not for interrogation purposes. To instill fear in the population, torture works wonders. But that's not quite up to the moral standard of, well, civilization.

Don't be offended....but that gets a big "Whatever" from me.......waterboarding is not torture......we will slowly become wussies, like the Spanish and French, I'll be more focused on the torture problem when the Islamofacists stop the beheading thingy......I' a Jack Bauer kinda guy......

Taking a public stand against torture is hardly an abandonment of anti-terrorist efforts, and is not a sign that we will not pursue leads regarding threats. It is a good step toward improved relations with the rest of the world, where most of the terrorists are and the plans are being made. We need the help of other countries to track down the terrorists, but if everyone thinks we torture innocent people, they won't help us. So this change in policy should help improve out ability to get cooperation and information from intelligence organizations around the world, which we need to get the Islamist terrorists hiding out in their countries. It seems like a good trade-off to me; according to the military experts, torture is pretty useless in interrogation anyway.

We have to agree to disagree.......I feel it is one of the strong points......we have not been hit since 9-11.......but I doubt if that will hold true for long.........

Interesting.
Corbin: I think the whole War on Terror campaign was one of Bush's biggest screw ups. Terrorists have been around longer than 9/11. England was hit with bombings during the 1970's from the IRA, which were classed as a terrorist organization. Israel is getting hit by rockets from Hamas and other miliant groups, just for being Israel. These groups also, should be classed as terrorists as they don't follow conventional warfare. The point is Bush, Blair and even our new man at the top Obama; can not stop terrorists. These guys are fanatics, they'll kill themselves in the name of Allah or some other "God". Groups like Bin Ladin's Al-Qeada, is loving the international attention. I think the governments of the world need to take away the reason for terrorism, defuse their causes. How we do this, is up to the purview of the world's leaders. Finally, the title "War on Terror", in itself is an oxymoron and therefore a contradition.
