This is one of the best things you have ever written that I've read.
The imagery is just stunning. It's shattering, the way Jess's heart is shattered and fragmented and disjointed. I love the way you have her observing things and you narrate them and then Jess's thoughts are interwoven in this tapesty. It is a very touching picture, and because of the imagery--especially of the snake, which at first I thought was a mountain road and then began to realize what you were describing--wow! this is incredible. Fantastic job.
