I love your challenges, great idea!!! Your poem speaks of times of old, a great storyteller you are indeed. Here goes!
Higher he flies
To beat the storm
His proud beak upturned
His feathers slick and weighted
Determined through the adversity
Off in the distance, he glimses darker grey
It is a stone wall that still stands strong and resolute
Despite the etching of ancience etched upon its surface
This reminds the eagle of how experiences imprint on the soul
He slows his flight, deciding instead to brave the storm, and stay the night

I love the soaring eagle and the rocks don't look ruined to me, they look poetically beautiful. Lovely work my friend.

Daylight breaks...bringing hope,
while terror sleeps,
a chance.... to escape.
The fog of night will come again,
bringing pain and death.
Flight will be swift and silent.
But only a few will make it beyond the walls,
beyond the mountain peaks to live and tell their tale.
(Thanks,Just having fun with it - enjoyed the challenge, your poem has awesome images and soaring imagination, very cool.)

where giants roamed
and warriors the ground stained
stones seeped in legend
misty breathes remain!
(out of my league, but it was really great to try) thanks a lot!

I read your excellent poem...
..and the picture is exhilarating and thought I might try my hand...
Ancient stones, hewn by gods
In the glory of their time
Upon the peaks rising
Out of the mist of dragons
Long gone in deep slumber
Sentineled by soaring eagles
Thanks for indulging me.

This is so much fun! Amazing picture...
Out of the storm a ray of light
shines on the wings of a bird in flight
as it glides and slides on the strong wind's back
and ancient stones that have stood the test of time
bare witness to the beauty of its dance.
Shades of gray and black and white
cover the sky where the graceful bird flies
as trembling he looks and searches in vain
for a place to hide from the incoming rain.
Poor little bird ,
image of what is and what could be
don't be afraid, just believe...
believe in the colors that exist behind that darkness in your sky
and soon , like smoke in the wind
the bad weather will be gone.
there will be no more storm
and with the morning, like a blessing,
will again come the sun.

Ah!...... the Taming of the mountains! In India, I was told the most amazing story. This guy went to the Himalayas to look for and old man 'whose body was nothing but his eyes were alight'. He was ushered into the cave to meet this sage who materialized some holy beads for him....as he wanted. Then the guy was told to leave by the back door. He found himself walking on a bridge and moments later he found himself on the plain. He looked back to see the mountains way back in the horizon. In a few moments! This bit of sage power was related to me by the guy himself. For a year, he had taught me some of what I know! Believe it or not!

Perhaps I returned to wash the tears away/following a pathway carved in mountainous terrain/my eyes opened wide with astonishment/ For memories were carved and here remained./ I gaze around in solitude wishing you were here/ to listen to the winds whispering voice /while the throat of time they cleared/ Do you recall what I told you dear/of the things that will come to pass? Anceint though I may be/ Truth will now resound./A tome is written for your sake /I hope that you can read/comprehend the intricate and find what you believe.
