PS
CP doesn't necessarily effect intellect.

thank you for sharing your story!
One of my sons has mild CP. Fortunately, I was already homeschooling my other three children when we found out he had CP. His case wasn't as debilitating as most and we never classified him for special ed.

Today he is16, a red belt in karate, a mechanic, an ice hockey player. He hasn't worn a brace for nearly 7 years and barely has a limp.  We go him tutoring for reading and math and now...at 16 he attends the local junior college.

I am so happy that we never labeled him, nor did we treat his smidgin  of CP as a handicap.

I am also happy to hear your lvictory story!

God bless!

I couldn't have said it better....
...sometimes the 'solution' exacerbates the problem.
Judging from your writing, your intellect is fine. Like you alluded to, it just needed to be freed.
I agree that the public schools fail in their focus on rote memorization of textual knowledge and neglect the more important aspect of 'thinking.'
It courage for you to share this part of your life with us...thank you! and Merry Christmas.
