I agree with Simone
As a therapist, I would start with what you are passioate about - writing. And, be in an environemnt that encourages writing. Book store is good. Then there are bloggers (like Ariala) that are offering advise on websites tha accept writing. Since you have not been working outside the home for a while, maybe looking for and joining a group - reding a reading book club or a writers group in your area. At a time like this, keeping your spirit up is very important and a good way is to be with people. I hope this helps, some.

I was wondering what your degree was in as well. Also, what kind of work do you like to do? Never give up, it is what keeps the mind going. I do appreciate the frustration though. It can be overwhelming. sam

How about bookstores, that's a great place for a writer to work while looking for that dream job. Good luck and.... and never give up.

Rainbow Writer... you ask for ideas... but how can we help you if we do not know your situation... like what is your degree on... what is your disability, why have you not worked in five years... without knowing all of that it would be impossible to adequately advice you even if we could adequately advice. So, blind as I am to your circunstances, I would venture this: The only way to work at something you would make a difference in would be by first identifying what you love to do and then, finding a job in that field. You day you love to write... well then I would suggest you look into the fields that involve writing, like journalism. Words are very powerful tools and someone famous said they are more powerful than the sword... use them my friend, submit applications to every place and any place that could possibly be looking for an able minded, dedicated writer that is hungry for success. Believe in yourself and apply and apply and apply... something will turn up for believe it or not, dreams do sometimes come true :-)
