I too, enjoy the silence. Its amazing how you hear yourself and other people crunching on their food. And, what a nice sound it is. Also, the food tastes so much better as you can focus on the taste, smell, colour and preparation.

How wonderful to have pictures to go along with the wonderful picture I had in my mind from reading your essay. I loved that everyone ate in silence. What a great prelude to set up the remaining activities. It is so wonderful to have great ambiance to meditate. I feel like I am there with you when I read your work. Thank you! sam
