You're right, Jesus concentrated on the "forgiveness" part.  I suppose the "forget" part comes from us lesser beings.  We often wish we could forget unpleasant experiences and confrontations.  In truth, as long as we can forgive, I guess the negatives should stay put to remind each of us that although we are only human, we can strive to be better and do better.  Thanks for helping me to continue to crystallize this.

Hey, Just so you Know....

Jesus never said "forgive and forget" because He knew we couldn't do it. We can (and must) forgive, but we cannot forget. It is only God who can "toss our wrongdoings into the sea of forgetfulness." Granted, we aren't supposed to dwell on what happened; just forgive it and get on with life.

So don't berate yourself for being unable to forget. Get the forgive part right, and don't worry about forgetting.

Yes Notapoet. I think you make a good point
It is always interesting to see how different writers approach the same topics. It is only natural that we are all affected at the same time by what we are seeing and reading and will end up with similar ideas. No one has exclusivity and it is fascinating to read the very many different takes on things.

Dreamgirl, Ariala...

I appreciate the comment.  Unlike some people around here, I think its pretty neat when we independently write about the same things.  It shows that as writers we are succeeding in writing about subjects and issues that matter to our readers.  It also provokes thought when we see the different spin that writers put on the same subject.

I'll have to read your post.  As usual, its not easy for me.  You're so prolific it seems like I'm always falling behind in reading your blogs rather than catching up.

Thanks for the comments.  It makes me very happy when someone recognizes a common experience or feeling in my writing.  That's what its all about and we succeed to the extent that others see the truth and the reality of what we right.  That's one of the reasons I've been encouraging your efforts.  Your writing rings true.  I'm glad you think mine does, too.

I think
it just possible we have the same ex!! My ex worked in the church, but a more violent minded person I have never met, and I met most of them in my life as a drinking man. My ex expressed the wish that my now deceased love, would "choke" on her food. Good blog!!

PoeticDewdrop

Thanks for your comments.  To me a "Christian" is one who follows the teachings of Christ.  When I study his teachings I see little of the dogma that so many people insist we believe.  Too many people express a Christian philosophy that is almost exactly counter to what he taught and ascribe to him words that are actually in the Old Testament.

there are too many non-christians out there who say they are christians..

Say, those who use the bible to justify their bigotry and evil acts

(JESUS OPENLY DISAGREES WITH MANY THINGS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT ESPECIALLY LEVITICUS!!! you, know the sectionwhere it says to kill gays, heretics, and witches etc,,,
