My university dorm mates wrote down phonetically what I had said in my
sleep and I had been, that night, speaking Portuguese with British pig latin (the AL added one)  added to it. I cracked up laughing.......that was our family's secret language......

This reminds me of when I was under psychic attack in Delhi, India. The voices were trying to talk me to to death...but it was not hindi I was hearing, it was my own native dialect! I guess it is a subject worthy of research, especially if there was no recordable or audible talking in your sleep!

I'm with "auslander" you must have been having a dream with English people or an English scenario...   Interesting thought though - what language do we dream in?  To take it a step further maybe sometimes we dream in a language we don't even know.

I know that for me it depends what and who I am dreaming of. But it's like reading book or going to see a movie: I quite often can't remember in which language it was. Must remember with whom I saw the movie in question or who gave me the book or where did I buy it! Ciao Bella! Tschüs meine Liebe! Bye my dear! Salut ma belle! A la vista, Baby!LOL

Being that dreams are nothing but plays put on by our mind for our benefit... whatever is in that mind can appear in those dreams... If there are several languages that you know of... all of them can and I am sure do regularly appear in your dreams depending on what you are dreaming about, the thing is that 9 out of 10 times we do not recall our dreams  or when we remember them we only remember parts of them not the whole thing.   Sometimes even languages we do not speak in our conscious level are present in dream states or in hypnotic ones... this has given credence to the idea of re-incarnation.  Some people go into trances and speak in ancient languages... that has been attributed to spirit possession,  but that is another chapter  loll... sorry I went so long.  Great post as always.

You know I've never even thought about this I guess we do tell ourselves
the story sometimes when we dream or we pseak. I know I talk in my sleep but I believe it's all jumbled up. Perhaps that's my true language. LOL

Vogue
It could get really interesting if you started translating your dreams from one language into another...

Dreams Language
I mostly dream n English, which, being an American isn't surprising, but sometimes in Spanish or French.  I understand most of the Spanish.  The French was probably not real.  Interesting question.

I bet you speak Spanish in other dreams
for being bi-lingual, you write in English better than most of us.
