Re: the castle
Sam,
I still haven't laid eyes on the Castle. Maybe after I pay this year's property taxes, I can take a drive to see it, providing of course that gas prices don't jump back to the price of an ounce of platinum for a gallon. My buddy Dave Bradbury drove up here this weekend for a visit and to shoot in a bench rest target shoot in Harrison. My rifle scope was screwed up but David shot very, very well. He scored 247 out of 250 in his first visit and his first bench rest competition attempt. I was suitably impressed and not very disappointed that I couldn't compare my score with his. Unfortunately for David, he was shooting against someone who was the recognized "Best bench rest shooter in the world" for a year. That is very tough competition to compete against. Of course we didn't know this when everybody sat down to shoot. He looked just like anybody else and was too modest to mention his fame to shake up any competition. A really nice humble guy. Those last three words, just seem made to go together.
Guy

When you write about firewood and its splitting I always go to my sons. One loved using the splitter, damn costly things, and the other a maul to build muscles. The tough part was getting them to get it in before Charlevoix county was blanketed with the lake effect snow from Lake Michigan. I loved the signs. You humor is so wonderful! I was highly entertained which is your norm. Thank goodness some things don't change. sam

Hi, North
I liked your description of the new "political" signs on yards. Signs of the times, it appears.... Nice post. Mal
