I live here and now. I think life is great. I have hope.

I once saw a film that made a great impression on me. It started with a drop of blood. Inside the drop there were 1000's of "things" moving around, like its own little universe. Then they scrolled out to the blood flowing in a body - in to the hearth - out of the heart. Then they scrolled out to a person. A house. A city. A country. A continent. The earth. The universe.

Perhaps you are right Sunny, it is all a transformation. Beyond our understanding. Maybe we can scroll even further into something even greater than what we call life.

We live on this earth, here and now. Some believe in a god, some do not. But we can all have hope and wish for a better life, a better environment, better climate. We have set our mark from the beginning of our time through art (wall paintings) buildings, culture and eventually the written word.

What makes our personal life great is to be able to remember the good times we had - re-visit them and enjoy them again. The ability to enjoy life right now. The ability to look forward to new adventures. Past, present and future.

If a person gets Alzheimers they loose the past, but they still have the present and the future. If there is no heaven in the biblical way, there may be something even greater. If we have had other transformations (like living in a waterdrop) we just don't remember it. I do not think that this life is without meaning. I just don't know what it is. I do not want to know either. Not what was and not what will be.

I live here and now. I think life is great. I have hope.

Afzal, this is a subject that warrants quite a discussion I think;
a lot of people believe in the after life for their own personal reasons but I am sure they have their own perception of what it actually is for them; thank you for a great post and God bless; have a great weekend

I do not believe either way
not enough evidence...

but if believing either way helps somebody gain more from this world then what harm is there?

I am of the opinion that faith is a good thing, when pared with questioning - if the faith is true than it makes it deeper and more complete, and if not it opens the door to new paths.  Either way it is not Faith that permits the unscrupulous to manipulate people, it is acceptance without questioning.

I believe
that there will be a journey when my physical being dies and that it will lead me to knowledge. Because of this, although curious and questioning by nature, I feel that I am in the hands of a greater Spirit and thus commend my simple self to enjoying every day to the full and being happy and healthy. I realise that I might be peddling some kind of deceit or may not just be brave enough to admit that this is actually all there is. But it's what I believe

I think Evie said it best........

If heaven never was promised to me, neither God's promise to live eternally,

it's been worth just having the Lord in my life....

 --Evie

Where there is no hope there is sadness and darkness and pain.  No one's hope

should be taken away because of diverse beliefs.  I believe God as I watch

prophecy unfolding before us.  Everything predicted in scripture has almost been

fulfilled and we are on the verge of a final frontier.  I have studied history of the

church and from what I see, history is being swiftly fulfilled.  This is why we

should study for ourselves and not just listen to what others tell us.  Some

terrible changes are taking place right now that many do not even know about

that will effect the lives of all people and it is not good.  All I can say is, if you

don't believe, do an in-depth study of the history of the churches.  If not,

I'd rather be ready just in case, than not.

the inevitable
I agree.  Wanting a happy "afterlife" is not a reason to think there actually is an afterlife.  I also agree with these brief words on the topic...why fear the inevitable?

afzal, the sweetness of this life is all that we can hold in our hands and

minds day to day. All the rest appears to be wishful thinking. Dunno, and probably never will know and that's okay with me.

I like here and I like now and I am happy.

Afzal
I think that some of the pain of this life is created by mistruths, and that one of the main purposes of this human life is just to experience "being" in a way that we can't in our true form.

This may sound a bit confusing, but I don't believe that there is something more than us...but that we are more than we perceive ourselves to be.

I feel that this life is a mere moment in the big picture of things. Well...and you know I don't believe in death...only transformation.

I don't think you or anyone has to worry about what happens beyond this world. I think it is greater than any of us could imagine.
