- Go to CONFESSION OF A BLOGGER ABOUT LIES AND BENEFIT OF LIES EXTRACTED
Lies are commonplace...
...but, truth is elusive.
But, not all lies are bad.
A lie to save the life of an innocent loved one, for instance.

Quite a good blog here Afzal...you have a way of waking the crowd up LOL ~ seriously...I understand (i think) what you are saying here, and I always hope I would never, or will never be hurt by another's lies...but when it happens - then I just leave it at their doorstep and move on. I try not to lie but I know I have said a few of those little 'white lies' in my life, to protect myself, and others...those kind of lies I pray I am forgiven for.

Have a good day Afzal and WRITE ON!!!~ Elyse

wow, this is a hard call,
Sometimes depending on who the people involved are and the nature of the subject, the truth is better not told.
I say this because most of us do not know the motive behind wanting to tell someone a truth, if my motive for telling someone something, that might hurt them, is really for the others benefit then fine, if it is for my own benefit, it is better left unsaid.
I don't believe staying silent is a lie, if it is not something the other has to know to be safe.
Silence can be golden.
For instance, if i think the dress you are wearing makes you look like an elephant, i might just say, your hair is beautiful tonight. If they ask me do you like my dress, i might say, it is not my taste. But why in gods name would i make a person feel bad by saying it makes you look like an elephant.

Alright, "Mr. I never told a lie"...
You are so cute. Cute, cute, cute.

Ok, I can name at least one instance where you had told me a mis-truth.
Sometimes, there are fine lines between what is and is not a lie.
I think that most cases of withholding the truth can be considered a lie...it really depends on the situation.
I know we have talked about the name issue before. People...especially on the internet, have to protect their identity.
I don't know if these kinds of things happen there, but here, if someone has your real name, they can get information on you...like your phone number, address, etc...
This is how many predators find kids to molest and kill.
I also think writers have a right to protect their identity. Many writers are private types and don't want to be susceptible to all the celebrity BS...they just want to be able to live their lives like normal people.

I know someone who will always tell you the truth - that is a great attribute if you are asking him about something, but it can also be so frustrating because he will also tell you when you haven't asked.... and then the fight starts
He is hurting a lot of people and they would have been much happier not to have known.
Like my mother said: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing at all....

Truth is an absolute
that is totally unachievable by man... it's pursuit is a worthy one though

excellent writings! i have, though, to mention one thing about names. As for myself, only case i can talk about, i am known pelagus. As most of you suspect, it is not my birf name.
Anyone who will ask me, i'll give them of course, but noticing it is the name i was given by my parents at birf: nathalie.
The thing is, i do not feel like nathalie anymore. i have changed through times & the name pelagus fits me better today (it's actually been for the past 5 or 6 years). i think pelagus is more the true me, than nathalie is. It has, but not anymore. It could sound odd to some, but i really don't feel the same way as during my childhood or teenage... & since the name is supposed to be or at least describe who you are... it is the reason why i decided to change it. Unfortunately, i couldn't do it officially since the french law makes it difficult & expensive to change your name & today, you cannot have an artist name anymore, well, not official at least.
Anyhow, i just wanted to mention those few points, & of course, i cannot talk for others, & everyone has different reasons to use another name than their birf one. i can only talk about myself for i am the only one i can talk in the name of. But maybe others have different experiences & reasons, which i would love to read.
i admit some people may use pseudonime for evil reasons, but i truely think it is not a general case.
Thanks again for your words & expressing your feelings about lies. i do agree with most of them.
i guess i have lied in my life, for it might be a lie to say i haven't, yet, i am doing my best to alwways say what i assume is true... & if i say something, i do it, no matter what. Death being the only reason i wouldn't.
have a great day.
