Animal sacrifices were done away with after the death of Jesus.

He, then became our sacrificial lamb.  It is no longer necessary.  We are now

covered by His blood for our sins, and only His blood will suffice for our sins, not

 an animal's blood.

You make an interesting argument.  The Bible teaches that animal sacrifice in the old testament was a way to teach people that blood had to be spilt for the forgiveness of sin.  Then, when Jesus came, animal sacrifice was no longer needed.  He became the ultimate sacrifice.

But those who believe in the Old Testament, but not the New Testament, still do animal sacrifices according to God's instructions.

Having studied history, I found that they many cultures indeed think that the death of an animal or human as the case may be will lead to better things ahead..Though this is not how it should be, I think there is much to learn..Excellent write!

Afzal
You are so funny!
I know you are not trying to be. God doesn't ask for blood. I wish I was more convincing that these are all man made ideas.

I know of very few sacrifices in this day and age...and the one's I have heard of, have been goats or sheep...usually for the health of a human being.

The sacrifice being done very humanely and the meat is eaten...not just wasted.

I'm not sure if this helps.

I like meat .. not always .. and i eat for me and not for some god/s.

I think those who do so use it as an excuse .. so that they can eat what the god/s actually don't .. cuz i've never come accross any god/s that eat .. in fact .. i know no god/s that fit/s the human definition of god/s.

Cool of you to raise such issuess.

I defer to that great philosopher, Jim Morrison, on this one, afzal:

Greetings!

I'm glad you commented on one of my posts, or I never would have found yours!

I enjoy your writing very much, and agree whole-heartedly with your philosophy.  What God would want us to destroy something He created, cause pain, defile beauty, in what is a selfish desire to gain compensation for oneself?  That goes completely against everything I have been raised to believe about God.

You are a pleasure, A.

what a great subject
I have often wondered the same... maybe it's a hold over from the times when the long dominant matriarchal  earth goddes religiouns were being replaced by the newer patriarchal monotheist religiou systems and this would be a mandate to ensure that the high priests get fed, consistantly.  Kind regards
