I'm sure honest and peace loving supporters of both sides want peace and stability, I'm not sure their leaders have peace in mind at all.  On both sides of this divide there is a lot of misinformation doing the rounds and each victim of lies believes only one version.  Although those who believe, may think that it is a one sided affair, I've seen websites and articles depicting Christ as a warrior king in support of the American troops.  S.O.S. we saw in WW2 where the alliance and the Nazis both fought in the name of God. Same as the Crusades and other wars around that time in the same area were Islam and Christianity was spread through conquest.  The old "Bible in the one hand and a gun in the other" (and gold mining equipment on the wagon) story.  I think you've got a valid point.

Re: Re: If you want more recent examples:
What people see on the news are not only facts, but distorted truths, and the perceptions people gain from these are what they often believe and react on.  The examples I gave are perceptions many people in middle eastern countries have, based on actual war and the web of propaganda weaved around it.

Re: If you want more recent examples:
Iraq...A Christian fundamentalist invasion???  A bit of a stretch......We can't even send Bibles to the troops, by order of our own government......

You responding with straw men that aren't related to the original question.....

Given me an example of a radical fundamentalist Christian group killing even just regular calm peaceful Muslims.......

If you want more recent examples:
The original and continuous occupation of Palestine (essentially a Muslim area) under the guise of secular interests.  The invasion of Iraq with the pretense of "saving" the people from a Muslim leader under the same kind of guise coupled with oil interests.  The large scale propaganda against Muslims found in almost any fundamentalist Christian church.  Your own remarks and views.

Re: Re: Just curious.......
That still doesn't answer the issue posed.......when one makes such a sweeping statement like the one in this post...surely there are examples they have seen or read about to draw such an absolute conclusion.....

Since you choose to chime in.........give me an example?

Clinically I probably suffer from a superiority complex myself,  I've even been told so by a psychologist cum social worker.  Unfortunately in life, as I have experienced it up till now, those who try to force their "peaceful" ideals on you with material weapons will still kill you even if you offer them your hand in peace.  Our only weapons against them are words and actions that can transform instead of kill.  In a world of peacekeeping murderers I will keep on fighting with words until my end.

Re: Just curious.......
You must live in a predominantly christian fundamentalist country.  If you want to see the other side you should watch the news in a predominantly fundamentalist muslim country.

Interesting observation! Spirituality is only partly religion!

I agree that there are those who love to force their beliefs...
and even their opinions upon others. I believe that makers of war are responsible for this terrible and evil thing that concentrates on the differences of people. The thing then gnaws at the fears of those people until they take a side, any side. However, God is love. God loves everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, age, or sex. God also loves those who do not love or believe that God exists. I do wonder where humankind will wage its wars once people have destroyed this planet.

Good post, love.
It probably goes without saying that I don't believe that God give one group of people preference over others. Or even that God has any real say in what one individual does, let alone a group.

Freedom of choice, which God gives, comes from the greatest love ever...if
he was crude and unkind, God would have never given us freedom of choice, but He would have instead been like the foundamentalists you speak of here.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think we should be

attacking each other's religion or politics. I wish

It takes a bit of intellect to write on these subjects.

Unfortunately, I live on visual imaging...things you can

see and don't have to speak of intelligently.
