Hi Azur
They do have a quite distinct sound:) I wonder if you have either a possum or a bush rat in your ceiling? We had noises in the roof in the Australian home too. Our cat was a good forager, bringing in unwelcome visitors like a dead rat, a live lorikeet, a possum's tail, a baby rabbit... he's gone now, poor thing, and is buried under the birdbath in the back garden.

Hi Sam
My friends thought it might be a squirrel and I did wonder, because it was quite loud; a neighbour, however, assured me it was probably mice, because inside the ceiling they can sound like elephants

Hi Pat B
The woodpeckers are regular visitors now, and the other night walking back from the pub with friends we came across a hedgehog. I just wish I could find out what's eating my hostas - I suspect a rabbit. How can the occasional possum or parrot compare with all the little treasures here, right outside my front door?

I recently could hear something in the roof scuttling about. We get a few wild creatures, the wors t being a snake a few months ago, to which our new cat alerted us.
I don't mind the sound of woodpeckers. Don't hear them here

I know the sound of pitter-patter in the ceiling for we had a squirrel take up residence in our home. They only come out at night the mean and restless type! lol Have a great day! sam

Funny how pests can feel like companions.
I hope the woodpeckers come back often, enjoying the creatures outdoors is even nicer. :)
