Yes all of those who came in those days knew what they were leaving. They came here to be better, do better and add to this great country not for the opposite reasons which is, unfortunately not the same today.

That is exactly what 'freedom of religion' is about in this country. I happen to be Christian and that is being pushed back at this point and I am forcing for it to be free. I respect your freedom of whatever your religion is and your right to express it. The first settlers to come here for freedom to worship were Christian is the reason for the post.

The right to fight for religious freedom
Not only do I pray that God will bless us all but I also pray that ALL religions will continue to have the right to fight for their rights in this country. We are a nation based not ONLY on the right to fight for Christianity but the right to fight for the right to pray and believe whatever religion they choose... whether we agree with it or not. God is fair and just. We are a fair and just nation. It is only fair and just that freedom of religion exists for ALL faiths...not just Christianity.

Justi, I think my ancestors have not been here as long as yours, but I am thankful that they came. My Dad's people embarked at Bristol, England around 1800 and my Mom's parents arrived on Ellis Island in 1900. Since then all of us have been very grateful to be Americans.
