First of all, I could not get a signal on my Sprint phone for three
states while traveling from Utah to Texas ... how the hell do these bastids get Internet while hiding in caves in the mountains of Afghanistan???  Secondly, you are so right, unless it is tangible to us (feel, hear, see, and touch), we tend to stick our heads up our collective ass.   This is the case with so many issues in our great USofA.  We are a nation of arm-chair political pundits waxing indignant about a conflict we don't know crap about.  I'd like to expound, but I don't know crap about the conflict either - I only know what my government chooses for me to know and I am fine with that information being fuzzy.  This is a well thought out and very informative post Naut -- thank you!  Well done.

If Only We Would WAKE UP!
I feel we have become complacent and war-weary and that's exactly where they want us. Keep writing. We need you.       Kris

So, how to make it real , instead of the stuff of 007 movies, before drama hits once again?  I feel quite helpless.   Keep writing Nautikos!

Naut,
I'm inclined to agree with you that we won't welcome God's plan (no offense, Wily), if that involves , as my mother firmly believes, Armageddon.  But most of all I agree with your last comment, that it is a question of ideas.  If only 'the twain shall meet' - wouldn't that be nice. There goes my naivety again.

Re: Nautikos
Thanks, Wiley, but my concern is that we won't like the solution the God of your understanding has in mind for this al Qaeda crapola...

Re:
Thanks, Shelly! Yep, it's gonna be a Marathon alright...

Nautikos, I'm afraid that there are too many people, like me, who read this sort of thing and subconsciously place it on a level with a New York Times Best Seller, a thriller, an exhilarating tale of international suspense, rather than face up to reality.   With a plot that moves at breakneck speed, devastating terrorist operations threatening our very exhistance, we just "know" that some adventurous action hero will save the day.  So, we can go on to worrying about things like the vicious cycle of falling housing prices leading to less consumption, leading to recession, leading to job loss, leading to more foreclosures and bigger government deficits, leading to even less faith in the dollar, leading to inflation and higher long-term interest rates, leading to higher mortgage rates, leading to yet lower home prices, leading to......      Keep writing.  We need it.

Nautikos
This is a situation that I believe will be handled eventually by the God of my understanding. Matter of fact, I'm not sure it isn't a message to the U.S.A., China or Russia et al, that they truly are not more powerful than God and cannot solve everything. God will solve this al quaeda crapola, and it will shock the world how that will come about

This is a complicated network. I think we need to combat it wholeheartedly to the finish. I think this is a marathon at best. Grand article!  Shelly
