Sorry for the 'cryptic' comment, I guess I should have spelled it out more carefully, though Charlie did it for me. Thanks, Charlie...

Oh yes, I would.
sometimes families are so much effort. We drift apart, and that is why an effort is needed to keep us together, keep the channels of communciation open. I am sorry to read that your mother did not make it to the weddings of your sibings, her children. Heart breaking stuff. Sounds like a great deal of healing is needed.

Yes.. I would feel disappointed. And as far as families go - I think
all families are a little strange.

FIL=Father In Law
and "shotgun wedding" is an American Redneck thing: when the father discovers that some dawg has been boffing his daughter, he pulls out the shotgun and says, "Marry her, or else!" Hmmm...could that possibly contribute to the divorce rate? :) The world may never know...
Read your blog with much interest...Yes, I would feel badly about missing a sibling's wedding, and find it very sad that your mother has missed all...I think I would feel like such a failure as a parent if my children neglected to include me in such an important event in their lives. But parenting is an art, requiring patience, creativity, practice, and the ability to look outside oneself...We are not all artists, but how do you know that before you are forced to try? And once the experiment has begun, there is no end, no matter how miserably you appear to be failing....

It is strange and a little sad, but, as you say -
families! But maybe your brother's future FIL suddenly remembered that he had a shotgun...
