- Go to WHY GOD PROMISES FORGIVENESS IF A SCOUNDREL AGREES TO REPENT ?
Justice is done in the next life, if not aquired here. God is the only true judge. If judged unfairly in this life He may bring many blessings to you in the next. We all should strive to do and be our best here and now.

We all make mistakes & He asks us all to forgive 7 x 70 times, which more or less means that we should always forgive, even if it sometimes takes us a little while to do so. The thing is that we may not forget, but learn from the misfortunes that befall each of us. Some things are harder to forgive & may take longer to sort through to be able to allow yourself to give forgiveness to those that have wronged you. If the matter ends up striking you as something petty or small then you should be able to try to forget that as well as forgive. Some things may never be forgotten but we learn great lessons from them and display a greater love when we do forgive those that have hurt us.
You have very interesting insights & wonderfully thought provoking questions.

Can we forgive?
The pressing question, it seems to me, is not whether God forgives -- after all, who knows the answer to that? -- but whether we forgive. It is important that we forgive those who have hurt us. See "The Benefits of Forgiving": http://www.helium.com/items/67993-the-benefits-of-forgiving

There may never be justice, but the love of the Lord is sweeter. I taste it every day! How are exams coming along? sam

The victim is usually left “holding the bag”, so to speak. The crime against them lingers for a long time – if not a lifetime.

My take on this
I've thought about that topic alot and I stick by the belief that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so that's the reward for the victim. the scoundrel couldn't handle the torment the victim did, I worked at a prison so I've seen it first hand. hope that's justice enough.

Love your enemies
and you love life a little more - but how difficult it is to love those who take life.

Re: Sinome
If a convicted criminal has true remorse that is more than mere words, such a one would naturally want to repay society by doing something constructive. I think they should be given that chance (whilst being kept away from the rest of society) and if they fail to show their remorse in action, I really do not see the point of keeping them around.

That is a difficult question to ask since we can only give opinions...which none of could be right. Fairness to us is not the same fairness to others...so we only have speculation don't we?

Afzal. I read, but I think I will not try to answer your questions as my words are inadequate. God is merciful and ready to forgive but an offender is still responsible for what he has done to another.

Well in the Old Testament it said An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. There was no forgiveness for repentance there. If you repented a sin you still got your punishment, when you got to G-d then He would judge you according to the extent of your remorse. I agree with that. Let the rapist be raped and the murderer be murdered. Put the child molestor in the hands of the parents of the victim and the thief to make restitution, not to sit in a cell and be supported by society while he excercises and does drugs. That in my view is justice,

I hope ...
that the victim receives love. Still the law holds the option to punish the criminal. C.S. Lewis justifies this by his theory of the moral law. The Bible speaks for itself about Law and Gospel.
