elysianfields, thank you
jusrt to clarify, its my friends (not the people with the death in the family) who whipped up this dinner. Ragini and I and stopped at the place called Green Chik and got marinated chicken kebabs and popped them in the microwave. But, I would like to have this spread provided when I have my ceremony, yes?

Justi, thanks
i think its time to be pro-active (as I just wrote in reply to ZenMom's comment) and leave a note which says, 'when I die'.

Oh, you must wait till at least 72 hours, as the spirit has to go into the spirit world. No hurry, here, or the spirit will be still earth bound and that could lead to it becoming a ghost. But, besides all this, I thnk a celebration would be good. I think its time to write all this down and put in an enevelope which says 'when I die'. Yes?

Greenfields ~ this touched me...such a beautiful, yes, celebratory ritual and very 'gifting' of the family to have these wonderful foods presented. This touched my heart.

Yes, I agree with you ~ this is how I would like to be remembered.

This was such a charming tradition to share with us. I think of that often, I have not made those arrangements yet. I want to do that so my daughter does not have to make the arrangements or my husband. I want a celebration as well. The menu from your friends house sounded great. I think I could easily take a week vacation just following your to wonderful dinning places. The food sounds wonderful. Be blessed.

I haven't been around much.........and, I have missed the eloquence of your posts. Fourth Day ceremony........sounds lovely but sad, of course. How could it not be? I would like to adopt something like this for my own funeral......but, maybe a 2nd Day Ceremony (you know Americans.....ALWAYS in a hurry). Yes, it should be a celebration; I will not consider anything else. Wonderful post.......all good information about a culture of which I know so little. Namaste
