Apparently...
...Turkey isn't the disposable society that we are.
I remember, when I was a kid, there were still shoe repair shops in my neighborhood.
I can't remeber the last time I saw a shoe repair shop.
I guess they went the way of the dinosaurs.

Cobblers
The only cobblers I know have are baked with a struessel topping! To find a shoe-repair guy is impossible enough here, but one who serves TEA? And takes pride in his work? How amazing to hear that there are still people like that. Great post.

Lovely story. I don't have an idea where a shoe repair store is anymore. It is a shame , such wonderful work. Be blessed.

Wonderful post and experience!
In India we call cobblers 'mochi' and I love them.  And, I love to watch them work.  I recentlyhad a pair of sandals repaired, and had a similar experience. No tea though.  He was on the pavement and I had another errand to run.  Next time....

That kind of artisan is vanishing. These guys enjoy their work and enjoy helping people! I knew a few people like this!

Very nice. Unfortunately, in this part of the world it's now rare to find the independent artisan who takes pride in his work...

Sounds like very nice people indeed.
I'll try to visit one day. I've never been in the Middle east and the only Muslim country I visited was Morocco. Tschüs. And good luck with your repaired-scandales, may they have a long life!
