Hi DEOA / Neil - those haiku evenings were fun:) For me, it's all about instilling respect for difference, rather than who's right/who's wrong - a long struggle, but perhaps doable eventually. I hope each generation comes a bit closer to the happy medium.
Happy to read some more chapters for you - keep in touch.

Pat B, I agree. Although some of the great writers of the past seemed to know human nature instinctively.

Hi TC- I find it endlessly fascinating. That's why I get so little written sometimes - too interested in the researching!

Mneme, Neil DEo used to enjoy interacting w/ U, might've begun with haiku.
BUT I now see how the linkage was blessed - I love women, as full, respected human beings like anyone else. I am a feminist, but like U, I cannot see how some feminists or male democrats make a priority list of sins, crimes, injustices.... and who should be rescued or ameliorated FIRST, second, last!!!
I too started out as a classroom teacher...now I see how the training/educating of teachers is such a priority. Yet, in many states, teaching is NOT A CALLING but a profession or guild---READ: Union or club. Get the card, and stay protected from yourself and your inadequacies. I hasten to say there are outstanding educators in spite of the system, and corporate public school system. I am glad U persuaded your husband about your doctorate. Blessings and shalom.
PS> I am writing my first novel. It is hard since I have focussed on non-fiction, history, poetry and expository writing...would like to send you 4-5 chapters (short ones) Let me know if u have time or interest. Because I do need every bit of help in this venture.Ta

I think some fundamental psych training is necessary for writers.
Although our primary research method is direct observation, it helps to know the major theories in the field so we can develop realistic characters. I don't remember reading Kate Millet, but did attend ERA rallies and reported on woman's advocate Sonia Johnson... She was active in the late '70s when women were working to get the Equal Rights Amendment ratified.

Enjoyable reads on relationship issues ...
Men's work/women's work provides an interesting study.
