Go to I am an operating room nurse

I was once given a ridiculous amount of stuff to "clean out the pipes" as it were, in prep for surgery. THE STUFF DID NOT WORK. I told this to everyone who would listen when I checked in to pre-op. But they did the surgery (to remove a non-cancerous tumor) anyway. And of course, I still couldn't go. Eventually I got a serious infection. Went to a different hospital and the FIRST THING they did was make sure I got cleaned out. I felt like a million bucks after that, even though I still had to battle the infection.

Grin!
There are lots of medical folks in my family, including two RNs, so I love reading your posts. This one about the importance of poop really made me laugh, because as I was deciding (too many years ago) what career path to take, I was constantly bombarded with the question, "Why don't you go to med school?"
I had two answers to that: rectal exams (enuf said), and sick people irritate me. Quit whining and suck it up, for Pete's sake! ;) Now I will add "the importance of poop" to my list of "why I'm not a physician" answers. LOL!
