Wound that never completely heals..
Once again.. you successfully put on paper things that only got tangled up in my mind..

I still get emotional inside, every time I read about terrorists and how they refer themselves as 'God's messenger/soldier/army', or any kind of 'people's hero'! I never know when or how the wound will really heal..

The thought of being a 'collateral damage' and 'dispensable' by someone who claimed to have the same faith and belief with me, damaged my self-confidence and self-respect for some time. The worst part was, the person who did that, was not around to hear people's 'comments' about what he did!

I can only pray that anyone with a healthy mind will always remember that it's the human that misunderstand God's message, and not God who sends hateful messages...

Amen!

Well stated.  God is pro life.  No man has authority to kill, himself nor anyone else.

God alone is the creator of life and only He has the right to take it.  That's why

He died, so that we might live.  Excellent writing.

It seems to me that the term 'Martyr" is highly abused
the original meaning has been lost among today's terrorist version; as far as I see it there is no excuse whatsoever to justify killing in any way shape or form; excellent post my friend; thank you and God bless

Thank you, afzal...
...my sentiments exactly. If a person considers death a legitimate option for sending a message, then that same person considers killing in the name of that message a legitimate option.

Martyrdom was glorified by the church during the early persecution of their followers.  The concept that if one dies for one's G-d their salvation is assured is a logical one if one believes in that G-d, and a helpful one to eradicate fear amongst a group that is being victimized, If one does not fear death but welcomes it , what can others do to harm one?  But, self inflicted death or murder are  directly opposite to the teachings of all major religious doctrines.  I believe that life is sacred.  It was given to us and only He Who gave it can take it away. But I also believe that when those terrorists that blow themselves up for their cause live in garbage and poverty and  are being promised eternal salvation and a thousand virgins to do it...its going to be hard to stop them from killing themselves and us because no one has anything better to offer them. Great post

You've put the whole think so differently - making us re-examine the
valorisation of martyrdom as being something of the other side of the coin of terrorism

I agree Afzal. The idea of it and those who follow are so out of tune. No one knows what happens after death.  sam

Yes, you are right afzal,
God gave us life, people that can kill or kill themselves do not respect what has been given to them and do not place any value on life.  I find it hard even to kill a pesky fly that is bothering me right now because there is value in any kind of life.
